Description

The story of an orphanage in central Java. Having worked with underprivileged children in London and Switzerland, Anne Dakin arrived in Java and soon gained the conviction that she should work in a similar way with Indonesian children. At first the obstacles put in her way seem to point elsewhere but she is sure that God has led her to a ministry of caring for the forgotten youngsters she meets. She is so confident of this that she left all her possessions in Java when her visa was not renewed! She started with a two bedroomed property in 1975 and one helper. The first baby for the new orphanage came to them in such an extraordinary way that it confirmed her conviction that this was a desperately needed work. From there the work of Beth Shan has now grown enormously so that more than 90 children are now in its care. "A story of love an dedication - and drama too." Sir Robin Christopher, British Ambassador to Indonesia, 1997 - 2000
